The DotTV Corporation was established to provide Internet users with an additional set of addresses ending in the extension .tv. By licensing the rights to this top-level domain from the country of Tuvalu, DotTV was able to open up logical names and email addresses for myriad companies and individuals. The company was acquired by VeriSign in 2001.
